Hao is a scientist-transitioned entrepreneur and investor in Healthcare and Medtech. He is currently a VP and Sr. Scientist at Infervision. Prior to that Hao was an investment consultant at ARCH Venture Partners, where he generated investment recommendations for a $600M fund. Being an entrepreneur, Hao was a co-founder of Microsensor Labs, an NIH-funded liquid biopsy company, and Microbiome.ai, a Y Combinator Startup School selected startup. Hao was also an invited speaker at the 2016 US-China Health Summit held by Harvard University.  Hao was an associate at the George Shultz Innovation Fund at The University of Chicago Polsky Center. Earlier in his career, Hao worked at the Swiss industrial giant ABB Group.

Hao holds a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Engineering from The University of Chicago. He has authored 10 peer-review publications and addressed 10+ conference speeches worldwide and holds two patents. Hao is on the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Oncology, Cancer Imaging and Imaging-directed Interventions and is also a reviewer editor of Computers in Biology and Medicine. He is a member of the American Physical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Society for Biomaterials, and Sigma Xi: The Scientific Research Honor Society.
